Wow as some people know this trip was really different and difficult.
One of the main things I learned was on a missions trip you need
to be absolutely flexible yet obedient with the main goal to serve
God in the way he has set before you.
When the trip started off we were told we were going hold a Vacation
Bible School for John Gundens' church we started to learn the songs
and prepare for V.B.S. but God's plans for us quickly changed.
After a few practices we were informed that
the church had a roller skating rink that they wanted to paint and
make it look good to draw people in especially teens and in the
middle of the night stop the music turn the lights on and have a
time were the kids would hear a message and basically use the rink
as an outreach.
Pretty much all of us thought it was a good idea and were learning
skits that we could go to the park or nursing home and the rink
to perform. When we got there we found out the condition of the
rink it was a lot of work but not as bad as it could be.
But then we ended up with yet another change we found out not only
were we painting all day but they also planned for us to run it
at night. I myself did feel overwhelmed at first but I thought of
my favorite bible verse. This verse I've thought of a lot the first
time I heard it I became my favorite and I heard it at SMASH it's
Philippians 4:13 "I can do everything through Christ who gives
me strength".
Thinking about my favorite verse gave me a new point of view and
I didn't think of how big the project was I just thought of God
and what my mission was. At smash we also learned that God gave
everyone different abilities and wants us to go and use them so
my mission whether I chose to accept it or not (which I personally
did) was to serve god my best by using the abilities he set'before
me.
